Who Are the Friends?
The Friends of the Midlothian Public Library is a community organization which supports the library in its efforts to provide quality services and programs for the community of Midlothian. Current fundraisers include: 3 Book Sales, Book Nook, and Holiday Bazaar.
Ways to Support the Friends:
- Join the Friends Now! (online form)
- Dedicate a New Book in Honor or Memory of Someone
- Donate Used Books or Other Materials
Meetings
On the first Thursday of every month, excluding July and August, at 6 pm.
Membership
- Annual dues: $10 individual, $25 business sponsor* (September 1 - August 31).
- Join online or fill out a membership form and pay at the library.
- Meeting attendance is encouraged but not required.
* Become a Business Sponsor for $25 a year, and your business will be named on:
- The Friends page of the library website
- The Friends' Facebook page
- A sign at Friends-sponsored library events
- A sign inside the library
Get Involved!
Below is a list of volunteer opportunities. Interested? Complete an application and/or contact
- Serve as an Officer – About 2 hours per month. Positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and committee heads.
- Sort Book Donations - About 1 hour, 1 to 2 times per month
- Book Sales – Set up 2 hours. Work the sale in 2-hour shifts. Clean up 1 hour.
- Book Nook – Restock shelves about 30 minutes per week.
- Holiday Bazaar – Set up 2-4 hours. Work the sale in 2-hour shifts. Clean up 2 hours. Donate craft items. Bake items for bake sale portion.
- Update membership information in MS Excel about 1-2 hours per month.
- Little Free Libraries – Restock one or more of the Friends’ Little Free Libraries. About 30 minutes per week.
